Rather less than previous months this year, but almost one a day.
14, exactly half, involved the United States, 10 being entirely US based. France was the next most active country on 5, then China on 3. The overall spread stretched across 15 countries.
Alcohol led the way in April, with 10 transactions. Second was packaging on 5. Dairy was third on 4, followed by soft drinks and ingredients on 3 each.
There were two big deals – Silgan’s US takeover of Graham Packaging for $4.1 billion and Diamond Foods’ purchase of the Pringles brand for $2.35 billion.
