69 acquisitions in March
69 food and drink transactions were recorded on the Zenith Global mergers and acquisitions database in March. This number is smaller than usual and the amounts were also smaller than usual, with just one over $1 billion and one more over $500 million:
- $1,240 million in agribusiness for Saudi Arabia’s Salic to buy 35.4% of Singapore-based Olam International’s Agri activities
- $768 million in food delivery for Mubadala private equity and others to provide series E funding for Turkey’s Getir.
Of the 69, 9 were in alcohol, 8 in packaging, 6 in soft drinks, 5 in services, 4 in dairy, 4 in ingredients and 3 each in condiments, food delivery, hot drinks, nutrition, plant-based and vertical farming.
41 were within individual countries, 33 of these in the United States and 3 in the United Kingdom. 28 were international, across 22 countries.
Among the 69 total, the United States featured in 45, the United Kingdom in 12, Canada in 3 and India in 3.
