83 acquisitions in February
February saw 83 food and drink industry transactions recorded in the Zenith Global mergers and acquisitions database, including 2 of $1,000 million or more:
- $1,530 million in packaging for Switzerland’s SIG to buy Scholle IPN in the United States
- $1,000 million in nutrition for Switzerland’s Nestlé to purchase a majority stake in Orgain from Butterfly private equity in the United States.
Of the 83, 13 were in soft drinks, 9 in ingredients, 7 in alcohol, 7 in plant-based, 6 in cell-based, 5 in nutrition, 5 in packaging and 4 in services. The combined total of free from including dairy-free, meat-free, cell-based and plant-based was 16.
44 were within national boundaries, led by the United States with 29 and the United Kingdom with 8. 39 were across borders, involving 23 countries.
