84 Acquisitions in October
Another 84 food and drink transactions were recorded on the Zenith Global mergers and acquisitions database in October.
These included just 3 over $500 million:
- $1,000 million funding in food delivery from Delivery Hero and others for Gorillas in Germany
- $971 million in bakery for FGF Brands of Canada to buy Weston Foods in the United States
- $894 million in dairy for China’s Yili to purchase 34.3% of Hong Kong registered Ausnutria.
Of the 84 total, 10 were in dairy, 8 in soft drinks, 7 in packaging, 6 in bakery, 5 in alcohol, 5 in cell-based, 5 in vertical farming and 4 each in CBD, meat and services.
The emerging sectors are rising fast, also including 3 plant-based, 2 meat-free, 1 alcohol-free, 1 insects and 1 recycling.
44 of the transactions were within individual countries, with 28 of these in the United States, 7 in the United Kingdom and 3 in Canada. 40 were international, spread across 26 countries.
Overall, the United States featured in 46, the United Kingdom in 11, France in 9, Canada in 7, Germany in 4, Mexico in 4, India in 3 and Italy in 3.
