European glass and PET recycling

Big numbers have just been released for glass and PET recycling in Europe.

For glass:

• Over 25 billion containers recycled into new glass in 2013
• 73% collection for recycling rate across 28 countries of European Union.

For PET:

• Over 66 billion 1.5 litre equivalent bottles collected and recycled in 2014
• 57% recycling rate across Europe.

These figures are undoubtedly an important achievement. But Denmark reached 98% for glass and 4 other countries managed 95% or more. Why not the rest ?
