Healthy Christmas
Glimmers of hope on obesity for the holiday season …
Three UK studies have produced some encouraging signs:
• The Institute of Fiscal Studies reports that people are consuming on average 600 fewer calories a day than in 1980, a 30% drop.
• The Government’s Family Food survey finds that average calorie intake is down 4.1% since 2009 to 2,209 calories a day in 2012.
• A Health & Social Care Information Centre analysis shows that the number of obese and overweight children in their final year of primary school has fallen for the first time in six years.
Let there be light.
