US consumer views on water drinks
94% of US adults purchased bottled water in 2019 and 86% recognised they should be drinking more water, up 4% from 2018, according to an online survey of 2,071 people in November 2019 by The Harris Poll on behalf of the International Bottled Water Association.
84% had a positive opinion about bottled water as a beverage choice and 16% held a negative view.
89% believed bottled water is healthy and convenient.
Among important factors when choosing bottled water:
• 97% mentioned taste
• 97% said quality
• 91% cited safety, with
• 82% noting resealable containers
• 82% highlighting convenient packaging on the go
• 81% saying ready to enjoy
• 72% raising the absence of artificial sweeteners and
• 65% referring to low calories.
Bottled water has become popular almost everywhere, especially while travelling and at work.
Plastic is by far the preferred form of packaging, with:
• 79% for plastic
• 15% for glass
• 4% for cans
• 2% for cartons.
