UK Water Drinks Conference 2020
Zenith Global’s UK Water Drinks Conference has become the industry’s leading annual forum to debate key issues and meet other business leaders, from producers and suppliers to retailers and advisers. In this its 28th year, the event will be brought to you through a virtual platform, still offering attendees the valuable insights and high-level networking opportunities this prestigious conference is known for. The theme of 'Hydration Nation' has been selected to keep a focus on product benefit, while also addressing challenges such as sustainability and innovation.
About the event
The UK water drinks market has grown beyond imagination since the first industry event in 1992. The 2020 virtual conference will provide updates and insights on consumer and market trends as well as exploring the direction of new product development and debating challenges from public health to packaging sustainability.
Attendees will gain valuable perspectives for reviewing future business strategy, setting up new projects and advancing the prospects of the United Kingdom becoming a better 'Hydration Nation'; whilst also addressing the current uncertainties around Brexit and coronavirus.

Harshit is a visionary leader and experienced CEO with rich cross-industry professional experience covering FMCG, Biodegradable Industry, construction and EV Charging.
In 2018 He successfully founded Aqua British, an artesian spring water brand from Herefordshire which serves water in 100% biodegradable bottles.
Today, the Aqua British brand is taking a key stand against plastic pollution and has formed business partnerships with Monte Carlo Society& Hotels, West Ham Football Club, Harlequins Rugby, Angel Revive by Steven Gerrard, Gillier Water From Fiji, Anthony Joshua’s BXR luxury boxing gym, IHG International hotels and various other premium brands.
He is also a Founder of EV-ON energy (electric vehicle charging solutions) and The British Virgin Group (business development and enterprise management services).
In the future, He intends to utilise his skillset and experiences to continue to add value to organisations.
Andrew Eversden
Co-Founder of Bottle Up
Bottle Up is a global movement that started in London with a sugar cane bottle made in England and filled with English spring water, but Bottle Up could come to any city or country with the same local, sustainable solution.
Andrew started Bottle Up in 2019, offering retailers a solution to the growing consumption of single-use plastic water bottles.
Dr Joan Gandy
Consultant – Health, Hydration and Nutrition Science Team at Danone
Joan is a freelance Dietician, who additionally works as a Consultant for the Health, Hydration and Nutrition Science Team at Danone. Joan is also a registered dietitian and Fellow of the British Dietetic Association (BDA).
James Pearson
Managing Director of Danone Waters UK & Ireland Ltd
James Pearson is currently Managing Director of Danone Waters UK & Ireland. During the course of his career he has also worked as Managing Director of Danone Waters of Japan and Managing Director of the Asia Pacific Region, based in Tokyo.
Prior to this James has worked in a number of UK based commercial roles within Danone, Coca-Cola Enterprises and United Biscuits.
Sean McLintock
Co-Founder of DrinkThreeDots
Sean is a co-founder DrinkThreeDots, a cannabis wellness company based out of London and New York City, with a core focus on the development of high quality cannabis infused beverages.
Prior to his cannabis ventures, Sean worked as a lawyer in South Africa and later as Chief of Staff for Andela, a high growth software development company based out of New York City. Most recently, Sean has been managing alternative investments and trade financing facilities at his family office based in London. Sean has a BA and LLB from Stellenbosch University in South Africa and an MA from Columbia University in New York.
James Piper
Chief Executive Officer of Ecosurety
James Piper is CEO of Ecosurety, the market leading compliance scheme investing in quality recycling.
James is driven to bring about positive change in the compliance market through increased transparency and accountability. Since taking the position of CEO in 2016, he has worked to demonstrate that recycling compliance need not be perceived as a tax, but an opportunity for brands to align their producer responsibility obligations with their sustainability agenda.
In this way producers are now demanding more from their compliance spend and James and the Ecosurety team are leading the way through a collaborative approach across areas of education, innovation, collaboration and infrastructure in the UK recycling sector. Heavily involved in strategy, policy and company values, James is also passionate about fairness, equal opportunities and a healthy work-life balance across the business. He is a regular speaker at industry events and is featured in Resource Magazine’s top 100 most influential people in the waste sector.
Libby Peake
Head of resource policy for Green Alliance
Libby joined Green Alliance in May 2017 as a senior policy adviser in the Resource Stewardship theme and is now the head of resource policy, leading our project work on resource efficiency and the circular economy.
She holds a BA in English Literature and Anthropology from McGill University in Montreal and an MA in English Literary Studies from Durham University.
Les Montgomery
Chief Executive of Highland Spring Group
Les joined Highland Spring, then a £3.2m turnover business, in 1985. Previously Finance Director, he was appointed Chief Executive in 2008 and has played a pivotal role in establishing the Group as the UK’s leading bottled water supplier.
Under Les’ leadership the company continues to thrive with recent investment of over £30m as part of a £50m investment plan. This includes a new factory and 73,000 bottle an hour production line at our Blackford site, to which in July 2017, we were delighted to welcome Her Majesty, The Queen to perform the official opening, which was a highlight for the company and staff and recognition of the success of the business as a whole.
The company is immensely proud to have been the number 1 accredited bottled water business for over a decade by the Good Shopping Guide and is working closely with governments and other trade partners to improve the re-cycling rates of plastic bottles and drive the vision for a truly circular plastics economy.
Les lives in Falkirk with his wife Elaine and two daughters. As well as being a long term season ticket older at his local football club, Falkirk FC, his interests include golf, gym, reading and running. He was proud to join 17 of his colleagues on a trip through the Vine Trust to Tanzania at the end of 2018 and help build two homes for vulnerable families in the Moshi district.

Yemi is a Consumer Insight Director at Kantar where she has worked across a wide range of leading manufacturers and FMCG brands.
Yemi is passionate about delivering actionable insights to her clients. In her current role she works with a leading Soft Drinks manufacturer and delivers projects which inspire successful decisions on brand and channel strategies.
Kinvara Carey
General Manager of Natural Source Waters Association
Kinvara was appointed General Manager of the Natural Hydration Council (NHC) in January 2011. The NHC was set up to promote water as the healthiest way to hydrate.
The Natural Source Waters Association continues to work with dieticians and other partners to promote water as the healthiest way to hydrate as well as working with stakeholders to look at ways to eliminate packaging waste through building a circular plastics economy, and protecting the environment.
Prior to this, Kinvara was an Associate Board Director at leading PR agency, Freud Communications where she worked for ten years. During that time, she developed corporate and consumer communications strategies for companies including KFC, Pizza Hut, PepsiCo and Mars Incorporated. This included internal and external proactive communications, behaviour change campaigns, crisis and issues management and stakeholder engagement. In addition to working in the food and drink sector, Kinvara managed media clients such as Random House publishing and Warner Bros.
Carlo Galli
Head of Sustainability for Nestlé Waters
Carlo is Italian, and has been with Nestlé since 1991. He has deep and extensive knowledge of Nestlé’s operations worldwide with specific focus on water resources.
Carlo played a key role in the elaboration of the new International Water Stewardship Standard. He has become an active member of the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Technical Committee and has received the “2017 Water Stewardship” prize. He is currently an AWS Board member.
In his new capacity as Head of Sustainability for Nestlé Waters, Carlo especially leads the two key strategic areas of water and plastic stewardship which contribute to the resilience and growth of our water business.
He is playing a key role in ensuring deployment of the certification commitments recently made by Nestlé Waters - 100% of factories to be AWS certified by 2025 and in setting up the new plastic stewardship strategy aimed at ensuring a circular economy for our bottled water packaging.
Michel Beneventi

Michel joined as the BEO for Nestlé Waters UK Ltd, in September 2017, previously he was Country Manager at Nestlé Trinidad and Tobago Limited and Nestlé Caribbean Inc.
Paula Booth
Lecturer in School of Psychology at University of East London
The focus of Paula's research is the effects of hydration on cognitive performance and fine motor skills.
I completed my PhD on the “Effect of Water Consumption on Schoolchildren’s Fine Motor Skills, Cognitive Function and Mood” at the University of East London in 2015. I then spent 18 months as research fellow at London South Bank University before moving back to the University of East London to continue my hydration research whilst working as a Lecturer.

Mobi Shemfe
LCA Technical Lead for WSP
Mobi Shemfe is the Technical Lead for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) at WSP in the UK. He has over 8 years' experience in leading LCA, life cycle costing, social LCA and sustainability assessment projects.
As a key figure in WSP's sustainability advisory team, Mobi provides innovative sustainability solutions to a diverse range of clients in the public and private sectors, including bioenergy, petrochemicals, infrastructure, utilities, finance, soft drinks etc.
Karen Wells
Associate Director - Commercial at Zenith Global Ltd
As Associate Director, Karen is responsible for Zenith Global's food and beverage market insight and commercial consulting projects.
Particular areas of responsibility include developing and undertaking high-level food and beverage projects focussing on feasibility, market opportunity, commercial due diligence and strategy. Prior to joining Zenith Global, Karen worked industry-side in the meat and poultry sectors, developing key national and export accounts in Europe.
Karen holds a BA in Modern Languages and European Studies from the University of the West of England and is fluent in English, German and French.
