About the event
The UK’s only event dedicated to the natural source waters industry, for over 30 years, the UK Water Drinks Conference has been the principal forum for leading producers, suppliers and retailers to review trends, debate issues and develop strategy for future planning.
The 2023 event will be held on World Water Day with the theme of ‘Planet Positive for a Healthier Future’ in association with the Natural Source Waters Association.
Speakers will include the primary producers, top retailers, key policy influencers and a range of innovators. Key topics for 2023 include market developments, consumer health, sustainability improvement, deposit return scheme implementation and latest innovation.

Henry Dimbleby MBE
Author of the National Food Strategy
Henry Dimbleby was given the role of lead non-executive board member of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in March 2018.
Henry Dimbleby co-founded the Leon restaurant chain (2004). He was a co-founder of the Sustainable Restaurant Association (2009), the charity Chefs in Schools (2018) and co-authored The School Food Plan (2013), which set out actions to transform what children eat in schools and how they learn about food.
Henry previously worked as a Strategy Consultant at Bain & Company (1995-2002) where he advised businesses on strategy, performance improvement and organisational design. Before that he worked as a journalist on The Daily Telegraph and a chef at the Michelin-starred Four Seasons Inn on the Park

Jamie founded ACTIPH water after rowing from Australia to Africa when he realised mixing small amounts of sea water with their water hydrated them faster than ordinary water.

Gemma is the Category Marketing Director for Beverages at Danone UK & Ireland. She leads the strategy, communications and innovation for Danone’s portfolio of beverage brands in the UK, which includes evian, volvic and Harrogate.

Zoë Ellis is a registered Nutritionist and the Head of Consumer Nutrition at Danone. In her role she is responsible for leading Danone’s team of Nutritionists in the development of services and nutritional products for consumers.
David Gell
Policy Lead for Deposit Return Schemes at Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
David is the Defra policy lead for the introduction of a deposit return scheme for drinks containers.

Robin Shuker

Robin started his career in advertising, working for major agencies in London and Sydney. In 2019 he was appointed CEO of Field Agent UK Ltd (part of Field Agent Inc.), the global leaders in crowdsourced Real-Time Shopper Insight and Retail Audits.
In preparation for the conference, Field Agent are conducting a study on how shoppers choose what “Healthy drinks” to buy and how water can be a more appealing choice.
Morwen Mands
Head of Sustainability for Highland Spring Group
Morwen joined Highland Spring Group in 2015 and was appointed to the role of Head of Sustainability in 2021.
Morwen has overseen the successful construction and launch of Scotland’s first dedicated rail freight facility in over a decade, which is a key part of the businesses’ long-term strategy to invest in and develop innovative solutions to provide healthy hydration in an environmentally sustainable way.
She is currently managing the business approach and readiness plans for the forthcoming launch of a Deposit Return Scheme in Scotland and the UK.
Morwen has a background in finance and has previously worked for SSE plc.

Les Montgomery
Director of Highland Spring Group and Founding Member of Circularity Scotland
Les joined Highland Spring, then a £3.2m turnover business, in 1985.
During the following 5 years the company invested over £30m in a new building and state-of-the-art production line and were delighted to host HM the Queen in 2017 to open it.
Les worked closely with governments and other trade partners to improve the re-cycling rates of plastic bottles and drive the vision for a truly circular plastics economy. As a founding member of Circularity Scotland Ltd, he is keen to help the launch of a successful DRS scheme in all parts of the UK.
Les and his wife Elaine have two grown-up daughters and following almost 2 years of leading the business successfully through the COVID Pandemic, whilst continuing to represent the owners interest as a director, he retired as Chief Executive at the end of 2021, his retirement was made extra special by being awarded a CBE in the 2022 New Year’s Honours list.

Mohsin, alongside his friends Alyssa and Jay, created ió fibrewater, the UK's first prebiotic water, as an easy way for consumers to improve their gut health.
The prebiotic potential of ió fibrewater has been validated by research from Glasgow Caledonian University which has shown that ió fibrewater is significantly more effective at stimulating beneficial microbial growth than regular flavoured water. This implies benefits for gut health and broader immune and metabolic health, as regular consumption of prebiotics is linked to improved blood glucose levels, mineral absorption, appetite regulation, digestive health and immune function.
ió fibrewater is a winner of the Scottish EDGE Wild Card award for innovation, and together with Glasgow Caledonian University, they are a finalist for the Innovation of the Year in the Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards 2023

Andy McAdam

Andrew is a seasoned FMCG business leader - one of the longest serving Water and Soft Drinks Industry experts with over 31 years of experience influencing the developing these categories.
His early career started in the Construction Industry in Sales and Marketing roles, firstly with the Blockley Group and then Marley (Eternet) group. In 1992, Andrew moved into the FMCG Market with one of the UK’s largest independent Soft Drinks manufacturers, Silver Spring Soft Drinks, as Senior National Accounts Manager, moving to Business Sector Manager and ultimately Sales & Marketing Director in 2004.
Andrew joined Montgomery Waters Ltd in 2010 as Commercial Director with a brief to improve Profitability and growth. The subsequent journey of strategic management, investment and development now sees Montgomery Waters in a strong position as a major player in the UK Bottled Water category.
His other commitments include being the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Homeless Charity (Stay) and advisor to a number of other organisations. He has in past also been involved as Associate Lecturer on various business school MBA courses.

Kinvara was appointed General Manager of the Natural Hydration Council (NHC) in January 2011, which later, in 2019 changed its name to the Natural Source Waters Association...
The NSWA members are all producers of natural source waters and represent the majority of the water bought in the UK. (Brecon Carreg, Danone Waters, Highland Spring Group, Montgomery Waters, Nestlé Waters, Shepley Spring and Wenlock Spring.)
Prior to this, Kinvara was an Associate Board Director at leading PR agency, Freud Communications where she worked for ten years. During that time, she developed corporate and consumer communications strategies for companies including KFC, Pizza Hut, PepsiCo and Mars Incorporated.
Hayley Lloyd-House
Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability for Nestlé Waters UK
Hayley has worked for Nestlé for 16 years, beginning her career as a Nutrition Manager, advising on nutrition policy, product reformulation and employee wellbeing in the UK.
Hayley leads the category’s Regenerative strategy, focused on sustainable packaging, the collaboration and implementation of deposit return schemes as part of wider EPR reforms and is guiding the UK team through its journey to Water Regeneration and Carbon Reduction. Hayley has been a Board member of RECOUP since 2019, a proud advocate in the Design for Recycling principles and for consistent consumer engagement to positively change recycling knowledge and behaviour.
In her spare time, Hayley is ‘potty about plants’ and generally being outdoors, often found in the garden, on her paddleboard or walking by the beach.
