8 innovation trends for ready-to-drink tea
A new report on Ready-to-drink Tea Innovation from leading food and drink industry consultancy Zenith International has identified eight key trends for new product launches worldwide in the last three years (see chart 1).
Over 60 in-depth brand profiles, which offer product images as well as detailed information such as launch date, packaging type and size, pricing, ingredients, variants and marketing, are categorised under six headings (see chart 2).
“These appear to be the main themes driving product development and innovation worldwide,” commented Zenith Chairman Richard Hall.
“The market for ready-to-drink tea is not only growing strongly, it is also becoming increasingly diverse, moving well beyond the once standard black and green tea variants.
“More new products are now seeking different tea blends, flavour blends, textures and packaging. Many are being launched with functional enhancements such as weight management or relaxation. Social enhancement such as Fairtrade or Rainforest Alliance certification is often an added feature. All this is broadening the appeal of ready-to-drink tea to a wider consumer base.
“Our new report is a valuable guide to anyone already in or considering entry into the ready-to-drink tea market with a view to providing innovation and added value to consumers,” he concluded.
The report also focuses on:
- Eight tea types – green, black, white, oolong, matcha, herbal, yerba mate and kombucha.
- Five regions – North America, South America, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific.
- Challenges and opportunities
