Glasses raised to bottled water
Following this year's blistering summer, which looks set to take UK bottled water consumption above 2,000 million litres in 2003 for the first time, the UK bottled water industry will focus on an even bigger challenge for its 12th annual conference to be held on 27th November at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate.
The theme for the event is the ultimate goal for more people to drink "eight glasses a day." At over 100 litres per year, the average West European consumer currently purchases three times as much as the British norm.
The conference features a packed speaker programme including the world's largest retailer Wal-Mart (Asda), the world's largest food service business Compass and the world's largest research company ACNielsen. Other speakers are: leading innovators Harrogate Spa, Lakeland Willow and Ty Nant; industry leaders Spadel and Well Well Well; and leading research experts from BMRB and Zenith International.
On 26th November, there is also a plant tour of the new £3 million Harrogate Spa bottling facilities, a civic reception hosted by the Mayor of Harrogate and an industry dinner at nearby Hazlewood Castle.
The conference always attracts the industry's senior managers as well as a selection of suppliers, analysts and trade press. It is being organised by specialist consultancy Zenith International Ltd and full details are available on www.zenithinternational.com or by e-mail from fherrington@zenithinternational.com.
